Fun Addition Practice with Choice Boards

Fun Addition Practice with Choice Boards

It’s time to make addition practice fun with choice boards! Choice board activities get students to go deeper with their thinking and APPLY what they have learned. Using choice boards is an easy, engaging way for students to demonstrate higher-order thinking skills- and have fun at the same time. You will be amazed at all of the creative ways your students will demonstrate what they know about addition!

Fun addition practice with choice boards

This post provides a closer look at the Addition Choice Board, as well as an explanation of the different choice board activities. My students always loved choice boards, and your students will, too!

Types of Activities

Each addition activity was carefully planned to address 3rd grade Common Core Standards (need a different grade? Let me know in the comments). The activities are also multisensory, which means your students will all find an activity suited to their needs. Your class may be busy writing, drawing, or even singing, but you can rest assured knowing they are all engaged in standards-based practice. As students complete their activities, you will be able to see who not only understands but can also apply their knowledge of adding two- or three-digit numbers with and without regrouping!

How Do I Use a Choice Board in My Class?

Choice boards are incredibly versatile. They can be a great center option, or an activity for early finishers. You can even use these activities for an alternative assessment or student portfolio artifacts. The finished products could also make a great bulletin board!

What About Grading?

The Addition Choice Board has a rubric that will make grading a snap! Once students finish their choice board activities, you can grade quickly using the rubric. When students receive their rubrics back, they can use that feedback going forward with future products!

Let's Get Digital

The Addition Choice Board includes both print and digital options. You can easily assign the digital version in Google Slides or on Easel by TpT. You can even mix and match elements from the digital and printable versions!
